About Ann
All my life I have been involved in creating some type of art. Much of my career has been spent as an interior designer and educator. But ten years ago I once again decided to commit my time to painting. Although I have received formalized instruction in the arts and continue to participate in workshops with noteworthy artists, I consider myself to be mainly self taught. Ten years ago I resumed painting as a plein air artist and now have evolved to the abstract mode. I am inspired by my surroundings and especially the night sky. Much of my work comes as the result of viewing hubble cosmic images, playfully envisioning the past and the future, and contemplating possible time travel images. I paint daily in my studio on Pine Street (S.P.A.C.E. Gallery) or in my home studio in the Old North End of Burlington (The Frederick Smith House) across from Lake Champlain in Burlington Vermont, just an hour and a half south of Montreal.
I work with acrylic, oil and mixed media using unlimited color. And my objective is always: To create artistic interpretations that speak to the eye and heart.
My work hangs in many different countries as part of private collections. I have exhibited in UK and US online galleries and in numerous Vermont venues and juried shows including the Basin Harbor Lake Champlain Maritime Museum, The Burlington Vermont International Airport, the Helen Day for Art’s Sake Festival in Stowe Vermont, The Shelburne Winery and Vermont libraries and restaurants. My work was included in the summer 2009 invitational exhibition of Lake Champlain art: Land, Sky, Water and Light at The Lake Champlain Maritime Museum. Two of my paintings were chosen to be included in the publication “The Art of Lake Champlain - Inspiring Landscape.”
